Written for a younger readership than many of his other works, with this 1913 volume M. R. James sought to introduce the biblical apocrypha, a long-held fascination, to a new generation. Peppered with wonderful illustrations by English artist and illustrator H. J. Ford (who was himself a contender for the job of illustrating Ghost Stories of an Antiquary), Old Testament Legends was clearly a real labour of love for James, and makes a fantastic addition to any Jamesian collection.
