This book is somewhat of an oddity in the collection, and while neither written by nor about James (save for his name appearing in print as president of the Penn-Gray Society on page 42), does contain his signature on a compliments page at the front. As such, I was extremely happy to add this particular volume to the collection.
The discovery of this book spurred me on to engage in some research around James’ connection to Stoke Poges and the Penn-Gray Society, the full detail of which you can read in this blog article.
