Cambridge Under Queen Anne, edited by J. E. B. Mayor (Cambridge Antiquarian Society, 1911)

A small volume edited by J. E. B. Mayor and published a year after his death, containing a selection of writings on Cambridge college life and other matters during the reign of Queen Anne. These include schoolmaster Ambrose Bonwicke’s account of his son’s time at Cambridge ‘A Pattern for Young Students in the University, set forth in the Life of Mr. Ambrose Bonwicke, sometime Scholar of St. John`s College in Cambridge’, and German scholar Zacharias Conrad von Uffenbach’s amusing account of his visit to Cambridge in 1710. MRJ provides a short preface with some background on the book and its contents.
