Manuscript catalogues and other scholarly works

M. R. James’ scholarly writings, generally focused around the subjects of mediaeval manuscripts, and biblical history and apocrypha, make up by far the largest section of his published works. Key amongst these are his extensive and numerous manuscript catalogues of various institutional and private collections (chiefly those of various Cambridge colleges). Many of these texts provide not only highly-respected accounts of these manuscripts, but also a fascinating insight into the roots and themes of many of James’ ghost stories. This page catalogues all of the full scholarly publications in my collection; all individual articles and contributions to others’ books can be found in the Miscellaneous articles, introductions etc. section.
